Column Installation in Toronto

We provide column installations in Toronto, Greater Toronto area and beyond. Our professional installers make the replacement process easy and smooth. We remove the existing rotten columns using special jacks to support the roof. Interior Columns

We offer paint grade wood and MDF columns for interior application. Wood columns are available in round shape and come either smooth or fluted. They are made of finger joint pine. We can also supply stain grade wooden columns. Our wood posts are structural-grade, but When split they lose their structural quality. Cutting and splitting options are always available. If you would like to go away from the traditional round shape of the column, MDF square columns will be the right fit for you. Available in a wide array of styles ranging from a plain shaft to fluted shaft or three styles of recessed panels: a single panel, two-panel or three-panel option.

Our interior columns easily conceal existing unsightly support posts or pipes already in place.

Since the wood and MDF columns can be trimmed to any height, they also offer maximum flexibility – easily adapted for pedestal applications or room dividers.

Priming and painting with an acrylic latex or oil-based coating is all that is necessary after installation.

Exterior Columns and Column Replacement

The weather in Toronto, from our humid summers to cold winters can be quite harsh on exterior columns. That’s why we use either Fiberglass or PVC porch posts, depending on your particular needs and preferences. Those special designed for exterior use columns are more durable than wood and do not require the continuous maintenance or rot repair that wood products demand. Fiberglass columns are load bearing and very solid. They do not require any additional support. PVC columns serve more as wrap around existing support beam.

It is very common to see rotting wooden columns on the porch of the house. Builders are using these posts just to last long enough to get off the hook for the 5 years warranty duration. They don’t care what happens after and things tend get really ugly after 10 years and onward, when bases and pillars literally start falling apart. If the columns are bearing structural load the deterioration process may cause the porch roof to sink, leading to a shift in the structure of your home and to further water damages.
